Arts & Sciences
07/14/2009
Arts & Sciences takes place at 6:30PM at the New Mexico Restaurant Association.
Please bring your own equipment and materials for what you want to make or ask someone ahead of time to bring equipment for you to use.
I will have the projector working if anyone wants to teach something via Power Point. Or we can toss in a movie to play while we work.

Tourney learning
Don't forget that Dalbeth will be there teaching various tourney running techniques. And on Saturday there will be several tourneys being held to practice what is taught at A&S.
Proud Golden Lion
I should be there at roughly
I should be there at roughly 6:30 so I can listen in on the tourney section. I will however have to leave shortly after that is done as I still have several things to finish up before clan. Also breaking in boots sucks.

Tiwaz, you do realize that finishing things up for Clan is exactly what A&S is for, right? You'd have more space and more help available than at home if you stayed longer.
Now with AIM!
yes...
and? I'd rather work on stuff in the comfort of my own home where I don't have to haul a sewing machine, box filled with various sewing stuff, fabric, etc around only to pack up in 2-3 hours and have to return home to finish what I started. 3 hour A&S meetings are fine for instructions and tutorial type things i.e. I pass out a handout on how to make maille then I use shower curtain rings to demo 4:1 and maybe some other simple weaves and hand out 30 or so rings to each person so they can practice. They then go home and do the real work on their own.
I go to A&S to learn things I don't know or to socialize, if I want to finish a project I'd rather do it at home where I can work 6+ hours at a time. Last night I managed to make 1 javelin, rebuild 2 swords, get a clan sword 90% finished (ran outa strapping tape for the torque wrap), sewed leather into my fighting pants to give it some extra padding, and watched 12 episodes of deathnote.
Don't get me wrong if there were more A&S's on things I actually wanted to learn I'd be much more inclined to show up. But I suppose that's at least partially my fault for not giving suggestions as to what I'd like to see at A&S.
my list:
Metalworking (making plate mail)
tablet weaving
6:1 how to do arm gussets that don't suck
bootmaking (more specifically the patterns as I could figure out the rest)
I'm sure there are more but that's what I can think of off the top of my head.
