New to Amtgard.

Hey, guys, I just registered today, after stumbling onto this site through alibi.com and promptly thinking "Where has this been all my life?". I only wish I'd discovered it last night so I could've gone today instead of having to wait a whole week. I just had a few questions:

I know you meet on Saturdays at the park on Indian School, but what about Fighter Practice and the Arts & Sciences meetings? When and where are these?

As far as fighter practice, would I be able to participate if I haven't yet made my own weapon? (For the record, Dual handaxes is what I'm wanting to do when I do make them, though I'm good with a sword. Been Kendo-sticking with friends for years. Never been much for shields, so dual-weapons is always where I lean.)

And as for Arts & Sciences meetings, would I be able to observe for the first week, maybe pick up some tips so that my first set of weapons doesn't suck too much?

Answers!

We are a bit crunched for people during the winter, so the current meetings at the park are kinda sparse, and we haven't been having fighter practice.

We generally have extra weapons that new people can use their first several times out.

Arts and Sciences is generally a pretty loosely-structured sort of thing; if you just want to come and talk and hang out, or if you want to come and make stuff, it's all generally fine. If you're looking for information or instruction on how to make something(and swords is a good thing to do this for) there will probably be somebody at the next meeting who knows how to do this. Arts and Sciences is every other Tuesday(I think 2nd and 4th?) at the New Mexico Restaurant Association(on Montgomery between Wyoming and Eubank; I can go look up the exact location in a bit) from about 6:30 to about 8 or so I think.

Now with AIM!

Thanks

Thanks for showing up to the park, we enjoyed having you there and it's always nice to have new members who enjoy the game.
