Park Report 6-28-08

We had approximately 20 people out today in all.

Everybody showed up a little after 1:00 PM, for the most part, and we started off with some jugging, as per F'lar's suggestion on the PV list. We haven't had jugging at the park in years. Since most of the people who played never jugged before, it was fairly unbalanced, but we still had fun for the most part. We got 5 rounds of jugging off before everybody got tired of losing so badly.

We had an althing in which people voted for whether or not we were going to pay for our P.O. Box. The vote passed the althing. Additional topics of discussion included Harvest War and GM elections. There is also some hideous rumor of people being able to assault me freely with baked goods, to which I raised serious objection and confusion.

Harvest War Promotion

Via PV List.

Ok we've got Harvest War coming up Labor Day weekend. I have decided that my Page, Heir Apparent Lurker isn't doing enough to promote the event. So to try and get more people to Harvest War I am having a Pie Lurker Special. Yes for only $2.00 every person that's at the event will be able to pie the young man. No bidding, no having to wait to see who has the most money to do it. For only $2.00 donated to Harvest War Lurker gets pied by you. I haven't asked his permission yet, but as his Duke and his Knight I really don't think that its going to be an issue. And it's always more fun without permission. I look forward to seeing as many of you at the event.

Midreign Feast, June 7th 2008 at Taylor Park

Greetings unto the populace of Pegasus Valley,

We invite you to the Midreign Feast of Pegasus Valley. It is being held at Taylor Park on June 7th. The festivities for the day will begin around 1:00p and will continue for as long as we have the energy (and light, probably).

Our theme is Midsummer and faeries. We are planning on a quest for that day. The details are still rough, so we hope to have an update prior to June 7th, but we may not have time to prior to then. If you are interested in participating in the quest, please send a message to Ashatharu on the list.

We will be grilling at the park that day, perhaps chicken or kabobs, or some sort. Feel free to make suggestions (other than hamburgers or hotdogs if you have any requests or diet restrictions). I am planning on making potato salad and a summery cake with strawberries as well as providing fruits and possibly veggies. If you would like to bring a summery dessert for feast, I will take $2 off the price of feast for you. That being said, as usual when I run feasts, it will be $5 per person, unless as stated above you bring a dessert, in which case it will be $3.

Site is Ready for content.

New site is more or less ready to go.
Thursday or Friday I'm going to start pulling all the content I have onto the new site. Once it's all done I'm shutting down the old one so please let me know if you have any problems with the new site.
Still waiting for a gallery module to be finished so that mass uploads will be possible. Once I have that, the fancy new theme will be made, but the default one will work for now. Once those are in place, the Armorers Guild is next on the list.

What is going on here?

Amtgard is a fantasy based live role playing organization with a large focus on recreating combat. All of our weapons are safe, foam-padded, replicas of swords, daggers, arrows, and many other things that you wouldn't want to be really hit by. In addition to the fighting, we strive to better ourselves in creating new pieces of costume, armor, music, and art.

Looking Forward

By Kate Ghanston

We have the Dragonmaster coming up in just a month. At the same time were having a tunic/tabard design contest. The best tunic and the best tabard will receive prizes. At the time of this writing I don’t know what those prizes will be, but there will be prizes.

What I want to discuss here, are class sashes. Or more specifically, loaner sashes. One of the responsibilities of our class guild masters is to have loaner equipment so people can play the class.

We don’t have any loaner sashes.

To hopefully correct that oversight, we will allow two ‘rose’ entries per entrant to qualify for Dragonmaster, as long as one is ‘fighting garb’ and the other is ‘garb accessory’.

The Speech

By Kate Ghanston

Corwyn the Burgundy, a renowned necromancer, stepped into the hall. The assemblage of men and dwarves stopped their conversations and looked up at him.

“Gentle folk,” Corwyn addressed the crowd, “you are all here because you have been selected for the privilege of constructing my home.”

A murmur of assent washed across the room.

Corwyn continued, “To continue on this assignment, and the accompanying pay differential, you must also gain my approval. To gain that approval you must sign a confidentiality agreement.”

Before any could interrupt, he pressed on, “I do not wish to impugn anyone’s honor or imply that anyone is untrustworthy but I cannot treat some individuals differently from the rest so you will all be treated the same.”
